Have a question to help you improve your garden or farm? Or a specific problem with a plant or animal? UH College of Tropical Agriculture Cooperative Extension Agents will be on site all day including horticulturists, entomologists and livestock specialists.

For those who want to take courses on agriculture or gardening, Kauai Community College staff will be on hand to introduce information on upcoming classes and resources available including both For Credit and Non Credit (OCET) programs.

The Garden Fair offers an opportunity for gardeners to interface directly with experienced professionals and talk story and ask questions. There is information for all levels of interest and knowledge - whether you're a professional farmer, backyard gardener, or just starting to put your hands in the dirt. Students of all ages are welcome and encouraged to attend.

The day's schedule of "Garden Talks" will be hosted and facilitated by Russell Messing, Interim Kauai Administrator for UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, and held in front of the One-Stop Center on KCC Campus.

9:30am – 10:30amJoshua Silva: Healthy Soils for Healthy Plants

"Healthy" levels of soil pH, texture, organic matter, nutrients, and other soil properties allow for healthy plants to grow.
Joshua has a Masters Degree in Soil Science from CTAHR at UH-Manoa, and is now working as an Extension Agent on Kauai-development urban horticulture programs, including coordination of the Masters Gardners program.

A dynamic presenter, Dr. Radovich specializes in sustainable and organic farming systems and ecological practices. He is interested in yield and quality of food crops. Learn about Moringa ("malungaay") and other healthy choices for the home landscape.
